Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all our visitors from everyone at BCT. After the quiet period homing has picked up again with 6 dogs finding new homes this weekend I'm glad to say.

Looking back at 2007 it's been another successful year. 463 dogs have been rehomed this year which is not quite the record we set last year but that was due partly to a high number of young dogs needing help in 2006 and work we've had done this year which has reduced the kennels we had available. Calls for help have continued to pour in during the year and despite our best efforts we, like so many rescues just can't help everyone as quickly as they would like - but we do our best.

It's certainly been a busy year other than homing and thanks to the genorosity of our supporters (plus careful housekeeping!) we've been able to have new flooring laid in both the rescue and boarding kennels and other improvements which have certainly improved conditions for staff and dogs.

Recent visitors will have noticed the driveway and area in front of the kennels has now been tarmaced and this has really made a big difference - a lot less mud being bought in all the time, especially during the rainy season (that's January to December now isn't it?)

From my point of view the two highlights were seeing Zola who had been with us for 18 months find a home and Sponsor Dog Terry who has spent many years with us also finding a foster home. Whilst every dog we home gives you a good feeling there are always some who stick out in your memory. We hope Zola, Terry and of course the other 461 dogs who we've had the pleasure of caring for, and their new owners have a great 2008.

Bye for now - see you next year

Ben
