It never rains but it pours

Very apt that title this years isn't it? In our case Monday was definately a day to forget. The phone was red hot and it's been a while since we had a day with so many calls - and most of them problem calls. Added to that we found the septic tank was full despite having been emptied the previous Friday.

About 3 years ago we found that a problem with the tank meant it wasn't going to last as long as you would expect, considering it had only been installed when the new rescue kennels were built. It was juts a question of when it would collapse and it seems to have chosen now. The guttering and drainage from the boarding block is also in need of some improvement as it's not working properly either. So if anyone knows what next weeks lottery numbers are can they let me know, I'll buy a ticket and share my winnings with the Trust.

We are looking at about £5000 to £6000 to replace the septic tank and get the guttering sorted and unfortunately these are things that need sorting now so we've given the go ahead. Oh the joys of property maintenance. It's bad enough looking after a house but with 4.5 acres, 3  kennel blocks, an office and of course the house it's a constant battle.

Anyway the good news is that Monty who came to us from another rescue, having spent 7 of his 9 years there, is doing really well in his new home and another dog who came in from his own home with a real bad history has surprised us all by how quickly he's changing into a really friendly dog. Amazing how a change of environment can affect a dogs behaviour for the better as well as the worse, but it's great to see.

Bye for now

Ben
