Is it really summer?

Hello,

Seems more like April at the moment - sunny one minute then pouring with rain the next, certainly cut short my grass cutting exploits today!

As you may have seen we now have an online facility to Sponsor A Bench - of course if you're not happy doing things like this online please contact us by phone or letter and we'll give you all the information should you be interested in remembering a companion, friend or relative.

Having installed a sound system in the new special needs block last year we've decided to do the same in the main block and I'll be starting work this weekend. A donated Hi-Fi and a few speakers should make quite a difference to some of the dogs in helping to maintain a calmer and restful environment.

We've also obtained a small portable CCTV/baby monitor system which allows us to keep an eye on a dog in the special needs block. It's very useful to observe a dog in the early days of moving it there to see how it reacts to the quieter environment. Being portable means we can use it in any kennel and it was certainly another Aldi bargain!! Perhaps in the future we could install permanent CCTV cameras but for now this does a great job.

Homing is still quite good but as always the number we are asked to help far outweighs the number homed. Whilst we believe our Homing package is as good as any rescue we're always looking to improve what we offer - without incurring costs of course - and hopefully we'll have exciting news of even more being offered when someone homes a dog in addition to the current information book and leaflets, hessian bag, dog toy, money off Burns food voucher, Missing Pet Bureau package, PetPlan free insurance (subject to certain conditions) - watch this space.

Bye for now

Ben
